What a day in Roma!! It started out right with a chocolate-filled pastry (paste) from a cute Italian bakery on the corner. The sky was blue without a single cloud and the temperature reached a warm 80 degrees.
With missing a day of sightseeing yesterday, there was much to do.
It is half past 1 in Rome and I’m freshly showered and in bed. Although Tammy and I arrived much later than expected, we still took advantage of our time by befriending our hostel mates Fizz from Canada and Mr. Brazil from Sao Paolo and went to an amazing outdoor restaurant where I indulged in thin crust pizza al proscuitto and tiramisu.
We finally made it to Rome! Here is where we are sleeping tonight:
What happens when you miss your flight? You get to the airport as soon as you can, cry to the nice Aer Lingus man, get really lucky that he is only charging a fee rather than making us buy a brand new ticket, and plan to camp in the airport for the next 7 hours.
Actually, I have to admit that I’ve enjoyed these past few hours because I ate my first big Irish breakfast and I’ve been completely passed out sleeping in a booth in the food court. I must be beyond exhausted to sleep 3 solid hours upright in the middle of a bustling airport with tons of people all around.

It’s one of those questions I’ve always wondered but never knew the answer too. I guess we are going to find out what happens today. We were schedules to depart Dublin to Rome at 7:10. Not sure if you can see the time stamp. It it is about that time now and Tammy and I are still at our hostel.
I had a bad feeling last night so I set my alarm on my phone and kept it on as a backup to our alarm clock. So it really was no surprise to me when I woke up with a jolt this morning and saw that it was 6:23. Yeah… No way to make it
Good thing Tammy and I know how to shrug things off and roll with the punches. We are enjoying breakfast.
So what happens when you miss your flight?? We aren’t sure yet. I guess we’ll find out when we mosey on over to the airport!!
It is about 2 am where I am; 8pm back home. I have no yet slept since I woke up before my departure on may 8 when I woke at 7 am. Being here feels surreal so far. Since I have to wake up in 2 hours to catch my flight, I’m going to slept and update this blog while I’m waiting in the airport tomorrow morning. Goodnight !!
Tammy and I just took a tour at the Jameson distillery. We also were selected as volunteers to do a whiskey tasting between Irish, Scottish, and American whiskeys. Irish wins!!
I made it! Flight touched down around 7:30 this morning. The flight went really well considering my numb butt (those seats are brutal) and my seat companion frequently passing gas (ew). My passport is stamped and now I am waiting in the airport to meet up with Tammy. We are supposed to find each other in an hour when she arrives and then we play around in Dublin. :)

I’m currently at the airport waiting for my flight to Chicago. This flight takes off at 3:17 then I will have a 3 hour layover in Chicago. From there I fly to Dublin and am scheduled to disembark at 8:15am Irish time, 2:15 “home” time. Farewell!!
