Brunch at The Morrie (+ a giveaway)

The Morrie Brunch

I recently visited The Morrie for brunch in Royal Oak.

Normally I’d avoid Royal Oak for brunches because of the small restaurants, limited parking, and large lines, but brunch at The Morrie had plenty of open tables and no lines. AND they have their own parking lot.

First up, the Bloody Morrie, the restaurant’s take on a Bloody Mary. Larger than most, the Bloody Morrie is the size of your head with a double shot of vodka topped with celery, cucumber-pickle, lime, olives, prosciutto. While it looks impressive, The Morrie does not make their own Bloody Mary mix. Rather, they take a popular mix and ‘doctor it up’ to add their own spin. This version of a Bloody Mary was different than any others I’ve ever had – it tasted sweet like a spaghetti sauce. If you prefer your Bloody Mary with more bite, no worries, there’s plenty of hot sauce at your table to spice it up.

I ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken and Waffle Stack with maple syrup and roadhouse butter. Definitely some of the best chicken and waffles in Metro Detroit that I’ve tried. Seriously, the chicken was perfectly spiced and so crispy as the perfect contrast to the fluffy, buttery waffles.

Brunch is served Saturday-Sunday, 10 am – 4 pm.
